Each month we feature inspiring teachers from all sorts of healing modalities.
This month's featured teacher is Laurasia Mattingly...
Laurasia Mattingly is a certified meditation instructor and an all-around badass. In addition to her meditation practice, she is certified in Reiki, Tantra, life coaching, and certified as a Mindful Schools Educator- a program designed to teach children and teens the tools of mindfulness. After years of exploring her own spirituality and battling chronic anxiety, Laurasia has discovered that her passion lies in teaching people to live by the way of the heart. It was thru heart practices that Laurasia found a way to navigate her personal difficulties – using mindfulness as tool to rewire the mind from anxiety and from medication after 5 years.
Laurasia guides her students by sharing the tools to finding joy, peace and happiness in the present moment. She remains committed to her practice by pursuing additional education through the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center's MAPs courses and attending annual silent retreats. Laurasia has led meditation at Coachella and Lightning In A Bottle Festival and has collaborated on events with Moet Chandon, Prevail Boxing, iamVIBES, MyIntent, The Standard Hotel, and Ace Hotel.
Laurasia is also an ambassador for Lululemon Athletica and the founder of zenAF - the anti-meditation meditation for mindfulness on-the-go - a Moving Meditation for the creatives, for the humble warriors, the modern day renegades. ZenAF is a mentality and a concept – where you can take wherever you may be. Meditation with grit. Meditation for the ones who do not give a f*ck. Meditation for the headstrong. Meditation for the raw, real and rebellious. Anytime, Anywhere. This is zenAF.

It was also during this time that Sarah’s mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. The mat provided refuge and healing as her mother’s illness progressed. Sarah realized that time was too fleeting to not be spent doing what one loves. She quit the film business to pursue her passions. Her mother was able to see her teach once before passing away.
For Sarah, yoga is beyond the postures it is a guide for living and she is changing the world, teaching self-love one person a time!

Asha stepped into her first yoga class at the age of 16 as a form of physical therapy after sustaining a spinal injury. This ignited a passion to share the emotional and physical healing she found with others. In 2007 she started her first yoga teacher training and in 2010, completed 500 hours at YogaWorks in Costa Mesa, California. She believes that the physical and emotional bodies are linked and can be accessed through movement and breathwork.
She has taught an integrative blend of Restorative, Hatha, and Vinyasa flow classes since 2009. Following her intuition, Asha’s embrace of her talents and skills grew to include energy work, sound healing with Quartz Crystal singing bowls, and guided meditation. The path of holistic and intuitive healing is a lifelong journey and Asha is dedicated to always deepening and expanding her knowledge.
She is currently the studio manager at The DEN Meditation in Studio City, CA where you can find her holding Sound Bath meditations.
Don't miss a Sound Bath meditation at DEN Studio City on August 18 from 7:30-8:45 PM
Amber began teaching yoga in 2011, while she completed her graduate degree in counseling. Since then, she has taught thousands of group classes and private sessions, as well as several international retreats. A former public school school teacher, she tailors her classes to be accessible and empowering to all bodies. Utilizing her background in counseling and Somatic Experiencing, she specializes in teaching people who have experienced trauma as well as those recovering from addiction.
Her introduction to meditation began at the precocious age of 8, when her father brought home guided meditation cassette tapes. Her daily dedication to her own yoga and meditation practice is what she believes keeps her teachings relevant and potent. Connect with her at ambershumake.com or on Instagram and Facebook.
