#CoMOONity Service

At MoonBox, we believe in the spirit of #coMOONityservice where we can lift one another up while spreading awareness about under-championed issues. One issue in particular that is very near and dear to our hearts is mental health awareness, which is why we've chosen to donate 5% of our annual sales to the Treatment Advocacy Center (TAC).

While we’re firm believers in the power of self-help and a natural approach to mental wellness when possible, in the case of many severe mental illnesses, which are often overlooked (and which we still do not fully understand the cause of), this simply isn’t an option.  The TAC is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating barriers to the timely and effective treatment of severe mental illness by promoting laws for the delivery of psychiatric care and supporting the development of innovative treatments and research into the causes of persistent psychiatric illnesses, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. They focus on the sub-population of people whose brain disorders are the most severe and debilitating because this group is largely under-served by the mental health advocacy community at large and is most likely to benefit from tools like assisted outpatient treatment.  To learn more about the TAC visit: www.treatmentadvocacycenter.org

We're hoping that mental health can become a subject more easily discussed in the upcoming years.  No one with an illness, whether physical or mental, should feel any guilt or shame in talking about how they feel, and shouldn't be considered or labeled "crazy".  If someone you know has reached out about their mental illness, please treat them with kindness, respect, and patience that you would give to any health human being.  While it may not be something you can relate to or fully understand, that doesn't mean that it's any less real.  Combat confusion with compassion. xx,
MoonBox
